According to the Sydney Morning Herald reports, Miss Dokic is going to speak to Fed Cup captain Lesley Bowrey and tell her that she has been upset with continued media criticism of her father and no longer wants to play for Australia in the Fed Cup. Her father reportedly will visit the Yugoslavian Consulate to take Yugoslav citizenship again for his family and will make a decision (to leave Australia) while his wife and daughter go on tennis circuit for the next two months.

According to the ITF Olympic Tennis 2000 official website, Venus Williams won her first gold medal with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Elena Dementieva in the singles final yesterday.
Venus Williams won her second gold medal with her sister Serena by defeating Kristie Boogert and Miriam Oremans of the Netherlands, 6-1, 6-1 in the doubles final today. The Belgian pair of Dominique Van Roost and Els Callens won the bronze medal, defeating Natasha Zvereva and Olga Barabanschikova of Belarus, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 yesterday.

According to the ITF Olympic Tennis 2000 official website, Miss Dokic lost her bronze medal play-off in the singles against Monica Seles, 1-6, 4-6 after a few hours rain delay today.
Former world No.1 Monica Seles won her first Olympic medal.
Miss Dokic will come across the Equator to Japan to take part in the Toyota Princess Cup 2000 which will be held from 2nd to 8th October at the Ariake Tennis Forest Park, Tokyo.

According to the ITF Olympic Tennis 2000 official website, Miss Dokic will face her idol Monica Seles in the bronze medal play-off on Centre Court tomorrow after losing to Elena Dementieva, 6-2, 4-6, 4-6 in the semi-finals of the singles today.
The final match for the gold medal will be played between Elena Dementieva and Venus Williams who defeated compatriot Monica Seles today, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.
Sunday, 24 September, 2000 - Sydney Olympics
According to the ITF Olympic Tennis 2000 official website, Miss Dokic has gained revenge for her 1st match loss in the Hopman Cup at the beginning of last year with upset over Amanda Coetzer today, 6-1, 1-6, 6-1 in the quarter-finals of the singles. Her next round opponent is Russian teenager Elena Dementieva. They will fight with a chance of a medal in the semi-finals of the singles on Centre Court tomorrow.
Miss Dokic and her partner Rennae Stubbs played a 2nd round match of the doubles today against the Hollander pair of Kristie Boogert and Miriam Oremans. This match was suspended due to rain and will be concluded tomorrow. The winner pair will play a quarter-finals match on Show Court No.1 tomorrow against the Thailander pair of Benjamas Sangaram and Tamarine Tanasugarn who ousted the 4th seeded Japanese pair of Nana Miyagi and Ai Sugiyama today, 2-6, 7-5, 6-2.

According to the ITF Olympic Tennis 2000 official website, Miss Dokic struggled but defeated Rossana De Los Rios today, 7-6 (5), 7-5 to reach the quarter-finals of the singles.
-- Miss Dokic called for a trainer and it would seem that she was treated the thumb of her right foot in today's 3rd round match. I hope that it does not mean anything serious in her condition...
ITF Olympic Tennis 2000 official website reported that Miss Dokic rolled her ankle (not thumb) in the 2nd set, but there was no serious damage, and a precautionary check-up of her ankle is due this afternoon.
Her next round opponent is the 7th seed Amanda Coetzer (RSA) who defeated the 16th seed Sabine Appelmans (BEL), 6-3, 6-1 in the 1st night match on Centre Court today.
Miss Dokic is scheduled tomorrow to play a quarter-finals match in the singles on Centre Court and a 2nd round match in the doubles on Show Court No.1 with partner Rennae Stubbs.

According to the ITF Olympic Tennis 2000 official website, Miss Dokic and partner Rennae Stubbs easily defeated the Indian pair of Manisha Malhotra and Nirupama Vaidyanathan today in the 1st round of doubles. They will meet the Hollander pair of Kristie Boogert and Miriam Oremans in the next round.
Miss Dokic is scheduled to play a 3rd round match tomorrow on Centre Court against Rossana De Los Rios.

According to the ITF Olympic Tennis 2000 official website, Miss Dokic has progressed to the 3rd round of singles, fighting back after losing the 1st set to defeat Rita Grande in the 2nd round today. She won 5-7, 6-3, 6-3.
Miss Dokic will play against Paraguayan wildcard Rossana De Los Rios who defeated Kveta Hrdlickova (CZE), 6-3,6-0 in the 1st round and had a walkover against No.1 seed Lindsay Davenport (USA) in the 2nd round.
The winner will face either the 16th seed Sabine Appelmans (BEL) or the 7th seed Amanda Coetzer (RSA) in the quarter finals. Atlanta 1996 singles gold medallist Lindsay Davenport has been forced to withdraw from the Sydney 2000 because of left foot injury.

Miss Dokic is scheduled to play a 2nd round match tomorrow on Centre Court against Rita Grande (ITA) who defeated Sylvia Plischke (AUT), 6-2, 6-2 today.
The Sanex WTA Tour has announced new tour event in Brazil on the 2001 calendar. This new Tier 2, US$625,000 event in Sao Paulo is scheduled for 10-16 September 2001.

According to the ITF Olympic Tennis 2000 official website, Miss Dokic is scheduled to play her opening round match tomorrow on Centre Court. Alicia Molik, a part of the Australia's Olympic tennis team, will play the 1st night match on Centre Court tomorrow. Another compatriot Nicole Pratt has progressed to the 2nd round today, posting a straight sets win over Ruxandra Dragomir, 6-3, 6-3. (The Sydney Morning Herald reported the score as 6-3, 6-2)

The Opening Ceremony of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games was staged at the Olympic Stadium last night.
The ITF Olympic Tennis 2000 official website announced the draws yesterday. Miss Dokic will play her opening round match against the 14th seed Ai Sugiyama, Jananese No.1 player in the top half of the singles draw. The winner will face either Rita Grande (ITA) or Sylvia Plischke (AUT) in the 2nd round. She has been drawn to play No.1 seed Lindsay Davenport (USA) in the 3rd round.
-- Miss Dokic has lost a singles match against Ai Sugiyama, 4-6, 3-6 at the Hyundai Hopman Cup in January 2000.
Their Olympic tennis teammate Nicole Pratt will meet Ruxandra Dragomir (ROM), while Alicia Molik (wildcard) will meet the 12th seed Barbara Schett (AUT) in the 1st round.

WTA Tour officials announced their conclusion in a statement on 14 September. Miss Dokic's father was banned from all WTA Tour events from 2 October 2000 through 31 March 2001 for his inappropriate behavior at the WTA events and at Grand Slams. The suspension bans him from attending as a credentialed participant or as a spectator.
It will be honored by the ITF at the Australian Open 2001, but the statement did not specifically mention the Sydney Olympics, which also has been held under the ITF jurisdiction.
CBS SportsLine reported that he was given a chance to present his case but refused, and her management company Octagon said that he was likely to continue traveling with her to tour events and probably will not appeal the suspension.

According to the WTA Tour web board members Schetti and Tina, Miss Dokic had taken part in the JVC Ladies Open Vienna 2000 - an exhibition event by 10 players. This event was held at Rathausplatz, the square directly in front of the Vienna City Hall, Austria from 10th to 15th September 2000. She played 3 singles matches against Barbara Schett (AUT), Nadejda Petrova (RUS) and Patricia Wartusch (AUT). According to the U.S. Open 2000 official website, Miss Dokic lost her 4th round match to Serena Williams at the Arthur Ashe stadium yesterday in straight sets, 6-7 (7), 0-6. In the quarter finals, Serena Williams will play to defend the singles title against the 2nd seed Lindsay Davenport who defeated Justine Henin yesterday, 6-0, 6-4.

The winner will meet either the 2nd seed Lindsay Davenport (USA) or unseeded teenager Justine Henin (BEL) who ousted the 12th seed Anna Kournikova (RUS), 6-4, 7-6 (5) yesterday.

According to the U.S. Open 2000 official website, Miss Dokic and her partner Amanda Hopmans suffered a 1-6, 2-6 loss to the 6th seed French pair in the 2nd round of doubles yesterday.
Miss Dokic claimed a hard-fought, 7-6 (4), 7-5 victory over Francesca Schiavone in the 3rd round of singles today at the Louis Armstrong Stadium.

She will meet Italian qualifier Francesca Schiavone in the 3rd round, before facing either defending champion Serena Williams (USA) or Giulia Casoni (ITA) in the 4th round of singles.
