Monday, 30 April, 2001 - Betty Barclay Cup
The Betty Barclay Cup 2001 official website announced the main draw of singles yesterday.
Miss Dokic will play a qualifier in the 1st round before facing either Ruxandra Dragomir-Ilie (ROM) or 5th seeded Magdalena Maleeva (BUL) in the 2nd round. She has been drawn to face 4th seeded Arantxa Sanchez Vicario (ESP) in the quarter-finals, and top seeded Venus Williams (USA) in the semi-finals.

Sunday, 29 April, 2001 - Fed Cup 2001
According to the Tennis Australia official website, Australia defeated Austria, 5-0 in the Fed Cup 1st Round Play-Off tie in Adelaide. Australia has named Evie Dominikovic (in her Fed Cup debut) and Rachel MacQuillan for the doubles rubber. Australia will now host a 2nd round tie against Switzerland from 21st to 22nd July, with the prospect of a semi-finals berth in November.
SportsToday.com.au reported today that Nicole Pratt was still hoping for Miss Dokic's return to the Australian team to contest the finals later in the year. She reportedly said: "This tie was bad scheduling (for her). July may be a little bit of bad scheduling again but come November, she's not playing any tournaments and if we can get her back for that, we'll welcome her with open arms," and then "I'm going to sit down and talk to her dad and see if I can make him understand the importance of Jelena being a team member because when she's at Fed Cup she's fantastic and it helps her for the rest of the year."

According to the ITF "This Week Special Edition", the draws took place today for the 1st round of the Fed Cup 2001 World Group, to be played from 28th to 29th April.

Thursday, 26 April, 2001 - Fed Cup 2001
According to the ESPN.com, Australian Fed Cup player Nicole Pratt said on 24th April: "There is a possibility that she (Miss Dokic) still may play for Australia at some time in the future.... So if we can get together and get a couple of wins under our belts, she might be back hopefully," at a news conference ahead of the 1st-round tie between Australia and Austria in Adelaide on this weekend.

Sunday, 22 April, 2001 - Fed Cup 2001
In the last week issues of "This Week", the ITF On-line has announced team nominations for the Fed Cup 2001.
Each team of Australia and Yugoslavia will play this week in Miss Dokic's absence.
Australia
The 4 first Round Play-Off ties in the World Group will be played on a home-and-away knock-out basis on 28th and 29th April. Italy will host Croatia in Bassano Del Grappa, Japan will meet Argentina in Tokyo, Slovak Republic will take on Hungary in Bratislava, and Australia will face Austria on grass at Memorial Drive in Adelaide.

Yugoslavia
Yugoslavia will play in Europe/Africa Qualifying Group-1 with Belarus, Denmark, Bulgaria, FYR Macedonia, Great Britain, Greece, Netherlands, Israel, Poland, Estonia, Luxembourg, Romania, Slovenia, South Africa, Sweeden and Ukraine. This event will be held at La Manga Club Resort in Murcia, Spain from 23rd to 27th April.
These 17 teams will play in 3 pools of 4 teams and 1 pool of 5 teams under the round-robin format. The top team in each pool will advance to a final play-off round. The 2 winning teams will go forward to the World Group Relegation ties to be played in July 2001. The losing team in each round robin pool will be relegated to Europe/Africa Qualifying Group-2 in 2002.

Saturday, 21 April, 2001 - Betty Barclay Cup, Roland Garros
European clay court season will be coming soon. Hamburg, Bol, Berlin, Warsaw, Rome, Antwerp, Strasbourg, Madrid and the "City of Light" Paris ! At the beginning of the season, Miss Dokic will participate in the Betty Barclay Cup 2001, Tier2a event, which will be held from 30th April to 6th May at Rothenbaum in Hamburg, Germany.
She has already committed to the Roland Garros 2001. The second Grand Slam tournament of the year is scheduled for 28th May to 10th June at Roland Garros in Paris, France. According to the ITF On-line, the tournament management has decided to change the composition of the draw for the Mixed Doubles event at Roland Garros 2001 to a 32-draw with 8 wild cards.

Thursday, 19 April, 2001 - Family Circle Cup, BVV Czech Open
According to ESPN.com, Miss Dokic and partner Corina Morariu lost to the 5th seeded pair of Nicole Arendt and Caroline Vis, 6-7 (4), 6-7 (3) in the 2nd round of doubles yesterday.
Miss Dokic has played at an exhibition (sponsored by BVV), which was held in Brno, Czech Republic in December, 1998. She defeated Barbara Schett and lost to Jana Novotna and Anna Kournikova. The court surface had not been found out until Mr.Todd Spiker investigated. It was "Supreme". He asked Jana Novotna about the surface in Yahoo! Clubs - jananovotnaclub (Official Community Club for Jana Novotna). In reply to the question, she said: "It was supreme court. The only surface which should be used indoors - my opinion because I always played so well on it."

Wednesday, 18 April, 2001 - Family Circle Cup
Miss Dokic and her partner Corina Morariu defeated Maureen Drake and Marlene Weingartner, 6-0, 6-4, in the 1st round of doubles yesterday. They are scheduled to play today's 3rd match on Court 4 against the 5th seeded pair of Nicole Arendt (USA) and Caroline Vis (NED) in the 2nd round.

Tuesday, 17 April, 2001 - Family Circle Cup, WTA Tour etc.
Miss Dokic suffered an opening round defeat in the singles yesterday, losing to tough opponent Iva Majoli in a full-sets, 3-6, 6-0, 2-6. She is scheduled to play today's 4th match on the Clubhouse Court with partner Corina Morariu against Maureen Drake and Marlene Weingartner in the doubles.
Picture quoted from New Idea weekly magazine According to the SportsBusiness Journal, the Sanex WTA Tour is considering relocating from its current Stamford, Connecticut headquarters to Charleston, South Carolina by the end of the year.
According to the Sportal.com and other sports news websites (AAP), an article in the New Idea weekly magazine, published today, quoted Miss Dokic as saying: "I know I made the right decision. It's a relaxing environment here (in Florida). Nobody bothers me. Who knows what will happen in the future? This is my home now - I'm over that part of my life in Australia."

Monday, 16 April, 2001 - Family Circle Cup
Miss Dokic is scheduled to play today's 2nd match on the Stadium Court against Iva Majoli in the singles.
The winner will meet either Catalina Castano (COL) or Alexandra Stevenson! (USA) in the 2nd round. They will play today's 4th match on the Stadium Court.
Her name was listed with "YUG" on "Match Schedule" page of the Family Circle Cup 2001 official website.
This official website announced the main draw of doubles today. Miss Dokic teamed up again with Corina Morariu (USA). This pair reached the semi-finals at the Toyota Princess Cup in Tokyo last October. They will play their 1st round match against wild-card pair of Maureen Drake (CAN) and Marlene Weingartner (GER).

Sunday, 15 April, 2001 - Family Circle Cup
The Family Circle Cup 2001 official website announced the main draw of singles today.
Miss Dokic has been seeded No.13 and will play Iva Majoli (CRO) in the 1st round. She has been drawn to face top seed Martina Hingis (SUI) in the 3rd round, and 7th seed Amelie Mauresmo (FRA) in the quarter-finals.
Her name is listed with "Australia" on "Player Profiles" of this official website.

Miss Dokic will play next week at the Family Circle Cup 2001, Tier1 clay court tournament, which will be held from 16th to 22nd April at the new Tennis Centre on Daniel Island in suburban Charleston, South Carolina, USA. This tournament moved this year from Hilton Head Island. In addition, she has committed to play in 4 European clay court tournaments - Betty Barclay Cup which starts from 30th April in Hamburg, Eurocard Ladies German Open which starts from 7th May in Berlin, Tennis Masters Series which starts from 14th May in Rome, and Internationaux de Strasbourg which starts from 21st May in Strasbourg.
Delaware Smash The World TeamTennis official website has announced that Miss Dokic would take part in the DuPont WTT Professional League this summer. According to this website, 9 franchises in the WTT Pro League rounded out their team rosters at the Roster Player Draft, which was held on 11th April at League Headquarters in Chicago. At this draft, "Delaware Smash" team owner Billie Jean King took Miss Dokic with the first pick. She seems to join this team alongside Marquee player Serena Williams (USA), Mariaan De Swardt (RSA), Mike Sell (USA) and John-Laffnie De Jager (RSA). The WTT (co-founded by Billie Jean King) is America's annual professional co-ed team sport. A WTT match includes 1 set each of men's and women's singles, 1 set each of men's and women's doubles, and 1 set of mixed doubles. Every game counts as a point in the overall score and a team must get the last game of the last set to win. The 2001 WTT Pro League will be played from 9th to 29th July with the season-ending Championships slated for late August. She has played at WTT All-Star Smash Hits Charity Competition in Atlanta last December.

Friday, 13 April, 2001 - Bausch & Lomb Championships
Miss Dokic made a 3rd-round exit from the Bausch & Lomb Championships after losing in a tight full-sets, 4-6, 6-2, 3-6 to Amanda Coetzer in her 18th birthday. According to the official match statistics, she won 88 points compared to Coetzer's 89 in a 102 minutes-match. She had 24 winners compared to Coetzer's 19, and made 70 unforced errors compared to Coetzer's 58.

Thursday, 12 April, 2001 - Happy Birthday !!
Miss Dokic and her partner Elena Dementieva lost to the top seeded pair of Lisa Raymond and Rennae Stubbs, 5-7, 2-6 in the quarter-finals of doubles yesterday.
The 3rd round match between Miss Dokic and Amanda Coetzer is scheduled to play as the opening match in today's evening session on the Stadium Court. The winner will meet either Meilen Tu (USA) or the 10th seed Meghann Shaughnessy (USA) in the quarter-finals of singles. Wednesday, 11 April, 2001 - Bausch & Lomb Championships
Miss Dokic defeated Patty Schnyder in a straight-sets, 7-5, 6-3 in the 2nd round of singles yesterday.
In the 3rd round, she will face the 4th seed Amanda Coetzer (RSA), who defeated Tatiana Panova (RUS), 7-5, 3-0 (ret) today at the 1st match on the Stadium Court.

Tuesday, 10 April, 2001 - Bausch & Lomb Championships
Miss Dokic and her partner Elena Dementieva defeated Meghann Shaughnessy and Caroline Vis, 6-1, 2-6, 7-5 in the 1st round of doubles yesterday. In the quarter-finals, they will face the top seeded pair of Lisa Raymond (USA) and Rennae Stubbs (AUS), who ousted Amy Frazier (USA) and Katie Schlukebir (USA), 6-4, 6-1 yesterday.
Miss Dokic is scheduled to play today's 3rd match on the Stadium Court against Patty Schnyder in the singles.

Monday, 09 April, 2001 - Bausch & Lomb Championships
The Bausch & Lomb Championships 2001 official website announced the main draw of doubles today.
Miss Dokic paired up with Russian Elena Dementieva, who was ranked No.257 in the latest doubles ranking.
This pair has received a wild-card entry into the doubles event and will play tonight's 2nd match on the Stadium Court against Meghann Shaughnessy (USA) and Caroline Vis (NED) in the 1st round.
Miss Dokic will play her 2nd round match in the singles against Patty Schnyder, who defeated Jana Nejedly, 7-5, 6-3 today at the opening match on the Stadium Court.

Miss Dokic has been seeded No.13 and given a bye in the 1st round of singles. She will play the winner of Patty Schnyder (SUI) vs Jana Nejedly (CAN) match in the 2nd round. She has been drawn to face 4th seed Amanda Coetzer (RSA) in the 3rd round, and 5th seed Mary Pierce (FRA) or 10th seed Meghann Shaughnessy (USA) in the quarter-finals. Her name is still listed with "AUS" on "2001 Draw Sheets - Women's Singles" of this official website.
The past two years champion Monica Seles (USA) has withdrawn from this year's event because of a foot injury.

Thursday, 05 April, 2001 - Fed Cup
The Australian (news.com.au) reported today that Miss Dokic's father would be welcome to accompany the Yugoslav Fed Cup team and participate fully in its management and possibly even coaching once Miss Dokic qualified to turn out for Yugoslavia in 2 years. Yugoslav Davis Cup captain Goran Bubanj reportedly said yesterday: "She is our best player and if there is some argument that she wants to play under those conditions and one of those conditions was that her father had to be there in some official role, then we would probably agree with that." According to this article, the family seems to have already bought an apartment in Belgrade.

Venus Williams defeated Jennifer Capriati, 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (4) in all-American final at the Ericsson Open yesterday to win her 1st title of the season and the 3rd title of this tournament (1998, 1999 and 2001).
