The Acura Classic 2001 official website announced the doubles main draw. Miss Dokic will pair up with veteran player Patricia Tarabini of Argentina for the first time. Patricia Tarabini has been a regular doubles partner and coach of Conchita Martinez. They will play a 1st round doubles match against Tina Krizan (SLO) and Nicole Pratt (AUS). Top seeded team is a revival pair of Martina Hingis (SUI) and Anna Kournikova (RUS).
Miss Dokic ranked up to No.19 in the doubles today. This is her highest-ever ranking in the WTA Tour.

Sunday, 29 July, 2001 - Acura Classic, Idea Prokom Open
Miss Dokic will participate this week in the Acura Classic 2001, Tier2 hard-court tournament, which will be held from 30th July through 5th August at the La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad (30 minutes north of San Diego), California, USA. The official website has already announced the singles main draw. She has been seeded 15th and given a first-round bye in the singles. Her 2nd round opponent will be either Janette Husarova of Slovakia or Jana Kandarr of Germany. She is in the same quarter of the draw as 3rd seed Jennifer Capriati, 7th seed Monica Seles and 11th seed Meghann Shaughnessy, who has defeated defending champion and 2nd seed Venus Williams at Stanford last week. Top seeded player is Martina Hingis.
According to the Idea Prokom Open 2001 official website, Cristina Torrens Valero won her 2nd career tour title today with a 6-2 6-2 win over compatriot Gala Leon Garcia in the singles final.

According to the Idea Prokom Open 2001 official website, Miss Dokic suffered a shock exit in Sopot, going down to Gala Leon Garcia in straight sets, 2-6, 4-6 at the 2nd semi-final match on the Centre Court today. Last year's runner-up Gala Leon Garcia will meet compatriot Cristina Torrens Valero at the final tomorrow. Cristina Torrens Valero has upset 6th seed Francesca Schiavone of Italy, 6-4, 7-6(3) in the 2nd round, 4th seed Henrieta Nagyova of Slovakia, 1-6, 6-0, 6-3 in the quarter-finals and 2nd seed Silvia Farina Elia of Italy, 6-2, 6-3 at the 1st semi-final match on the Centre Court today.
In the doubles final, Joannette Kruger and Francesca Schiavone won the title by defeating Yulia Beygelzimer and Anastassia Rodionova, 6-4, 6-0 at today's 1st match on the Court-1.
-- Her brilliant three months' European tour was over. She will fly to California next week for hard-court season.

According to the Idea Prokom Open 2001 official website, Miss Dokic reached the semi-finals at Sopot without losing a set. She defeated 8th seeded clay-courter Marian Diaz Oliva, 6-3, 6-3 at the 2nd match on the centre Court today, and set up a meeting with Gala Leon Garcia of Spain tomorrow for a final berth.

In the singles, Miss Dokic advanced to the quarter-finals with a 6-3 6-2 win over Kveta Hrdlickova at today's 4th match on the Centre Court. She will next meet 8th seed Mariana Diaz Oliva, who defeated Adriana Gersi, 7-5, 6-3 in the 2nd round today.

In the 2nd round, she will next meet Kveta Hrdlickova, who has defeated local wild-card Joanna Sakowicz, 5-7, 6-3, 7-6(2) in the opening round yesterday. Miss Dokic is also scheduled to play doubles 1st round match on Court-1 today with partner Silvia Farina Elia against Rumanian pair of Ruxandra Dragomir Ilie and Andreea Vanc to gain revenge for their semi-final round loss at Knokke-Heist last week.

The seedings in the Idea Prokom Open 2001 are available. In the singles, Miss Dokic was seeded 3rd. Top seeded player is defending champion Anke Huber of Germany, who reportedly will retire after the 2002 Australian Open where she reached the final in 1996. The 2nd seed is doubles partner Silvia Farina Elia of Italy.
In the doubles, Miss Dokic and Silvia Farina Elia were seeded 2nd. Top seeded pair is Tathiana Garbin and Janette Husarova, who have suffered 1st round exit today by Yulia Beygelzimer and Anastassia Rodionova, 4-6, 3-6, according to the WTA Tour official website.
Australia advanced to the Fed Cup finals today with a 4-1 win over Switzerland in its world group playoff. According to the Tennis Australia official website, the Fed Cup venue was transferred from the grass courts at Royal Sydney Golf Club to the Rebound Ace courts at the Sydney International Tennis Centre, Homebush.

According to the Sanex WTA Tour official website, Iroda Tulyaganova won the Sanex Trophy tournament, beating Gala Leon Garcia, 6-2, 6-3 in the singles final today.
The Tennis Australia official website announced today that the reverse singles and doubles matches between Australia and Switzerland in the Fed Cup had been postponed until Monday or later because of persistent rain. Under Fed Cup rules, both teams must remain in Sydney at least 2 more days to complete the playoff. After this time, they will reach agreement about when and where the tie could be completed. Nicole Pratt and Evie Dominikovic are due to fly to California this week for WTA events.

Sunday, 22 July, 2001 (1) - Sanex Trophy, Idea Prokom Open, Fed Cup 2001
According to the Sanex WTA Tour official website, Miss Dokic and partner Silvia Farina Elia lost to Rumanian pair of Ruxandra Dragomir Ilie and Andreea Vanc, 5-7, 1-6 in the semi-finals of the Sanex Trophy yesterday.
In the singles competition at Knokke-Heist, Iroda Tulyaganova upset top seed Kim Clijsters in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4 yesterday to meet Gala Leon Garcia in today's final for her 2nd title in recent 2 weeks in a row.
Miss Dokic will participate this week in the Idea Prokom Open 2001, Tier3 clay-court event, which will be held from 23rd through 29th July at the Sopot Tennis Club in Sopot, Poland. The official website has already announced the committed players list. She seems to be seeded 2nd in the singles. Top seeded player will be Amelie Mauresmo of France. -- But I'm not sure whether she is going to play in Sopot or she will skip it and return to home for a rest before U.S. hard-court season.
In the Fed Cup World Group 2nd round play-offs, Australia now needs only to win one of today's 2 reverse singles or the doubles rubber to progress to the 8-nation round-robin finals in Madrid in November.

According to the Sanex WTA Tour official website, Miss Dokic and partner Silvia Farina Elia progressed to the semi-finals of the Sanex Trophy with a 6-3 6-4 win over Ekaterina Kozhokina and Christina Wheeler in the doubles quarter-finals yesterday. They are scheduled to meet Rumanian pair of Ruxandra Dragomir Ilie and Andreea Vanc at today's 3rd match on the Central Court for a final berth.
According to the Tennis Australia official website, Australia leads over Switzerland, 2-0 in the Fed Cup World Group 2nd round play-off at Royal Sydney Golf Club. Today's results are as follows:

According to the Sanex WTA Tour official website, Miss Dokic and partner Silvia Farina Elia defeated Eleni Daniilidou and Caroline Dhenin, 7-5, 6-2 in the doubles 1st round of the Sanex Trophy yesterday. They are scheduled to play against Ekaterina Kozhokina (RUS) and Christina Wheeler (AUS) at today's 4th match on the Central Court for a place in the semi-finals. Silvia Farina Elia, 2nd seed in the singles, has been upset by Rossana De Los Rios, 3-6, 1-6 (or 2-6) in yesterday's rain- suspended 2nd round match.
According to the Tennis Australia official website, the draw for the Fed Cup World Group 2nd round play-off tie between Australia and Switzerland was held at the Royal Sydney Golf Club today. Australia's team was set to meet junior players of Switzerland team which is without Martina Hingis and Patty Schnyder. The winning nations in the 2nd round play-offs will progress to the final, which will be held in Madrid, Spain from 5th through 11th November, 2001.

According to De Standaard Online, Miss Dokic suffered 1st round defeat in the singles, losing to Denisa Chladkova in straight sets, 4-6, 2-6 at today's 4th match on the Central Court at the Sanex Trophy 2001.
The main draw of doubles competition is available. Miss Dokic will pair up with Silvia Farina Elia of Italy for the first time. They have been seeded 2nd in the bottom half of the draw and will play a 1st round doubles match against Eleni Daniilidou (GRE) and Caroline Dhenin (FRA). Top seeded team is Virginia Ruano Pascual (ESP) and Magui Serna (ESP).
Iroda Tulyaganova won the UNIQA GrandPrix on Sunday by defeating 8th seed Patty Schnyder, 6-3 6-2 in the final. This is her 2nd senior tour title. The 1st title was in her hometown Tashkent last year.

Top seeds had another bad day on Thursday in Vienna. In the 2nd round of singles, 2nd seed Miss Dokic could not fight back in the rain-interrupted 3rd set, so she finally suffered a 6-1 6-7(2) 0-6 defeat to qualifier Jelena Kostanic while Top seed Elena Dementieva was upset by Iroda Tulyaganova, 4-6 6-0 6-7(3). In the quarter-finals of doubles, Miss Dokic and partner Elena Dementieva were defeated by top seeded pair of Paola Suarez and Patricia Tarabini, 3-6 0-6 on the same day.

Her 2nd round match against qualifier Jelena Kostanic was suspended due to rain yesterday in the final set, 6-1, 6-7 (2), 0-2. The match is scheduled to resume today on the Center Court after another 2nd round match between top seed Elena Dementieva and Iroda Tulyaganova.
Miss Dokic and partner Elena Dementieva will play in the quarter-finals against top seeded pair of Paola Suarez and Patricia Tarabini at today's 4th match on the Court-1.
The ITF announced World Group Play Offs Week-2 team nominations for Fed Cup 2001, which will be held on 21st and 22nd July 2001.

Miss Dokic and partner Elena Dementieva defeated Angelika Bachmann and Eva Dyrberg, 6-1, 6-2 in the opening round of the UNIQA GrandPrix 2001 yesterday. They will next face top seeded Argentine pair of Paola Suarez and Patricia Tarabini in the quarter-finals.
In the 2nd round of singles, Miss Dokic is scheduled to play qualifier Jelena Kostanic at today's 4th match on the Center Court. The winner will next meet either Anna Smashnova (ISR) or Maja Palaversic (CRO) in the quarter-finals. Anna Smashnova has upset 6th seed Henrieta Nagyova, 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 at the opening day's 3rd match on the Center Court. Maja Palaversic ousted Wimbledon mixed duubles champion Daniela Hantuchova, 6-4, 6-3 at the 1st match on the Court-1 today.
Tennis Australia official website reported today that Goran Ivanisevic could miss next year's Australian Open to postpone surgery on his troublesome shoulder until the end of the year. The new Wimbledon champion returned home Tuesday for a hero's welcome in his hometown Split, Croatia.

Final qualifying matches in the UNIQA GrandPrix 2001 are scheduled to take place today. The official website has announced the main draw of doubles. Miss Dokic will team up with Russian Elena Dementieva again for the doubles competition. They will play Angelika Bachmann (GER) and Eva Dyrberg (DEN) in the 1st round.
Miss Dokic ranked up to No.20 in the doubles today. This is her highest-ever ranking in the WTA Tour. However, she lost 7 places in the singles rankings from No.16 to No.23.
Goran Ivanisevic, the first wildcard to reach a Grand Slam final, realized a dream to win his first title of the Championships, defeating last year's runner-up Patrick Rafter, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 2-6, 9-7 at the gentlemen's singles final today.

The UNIQA GrandPrix 2001 official website announced the main draw of singles today. Miss Dokic will play her 2nd round match against either local wildcard Nicole Remis or a qualifier after receiving a first-round bye.
Three-time runner up (1992, 1994, 1998) and wildcard Goran Ivanisevic reached the gentlemen's final at Wimbledon today with win over British hero Tim Henman, 7-5, 6-7 (6), 0-6, 7-6 (5), 6-3 on the 3rd day of rain-interrupted semi-final match. Defending champion Venus Williams won her 2nd title of the Championships, defeating 8th seed Justine Henin, the first Belgian woman to reach a Wimbledon final, 6-1, 3-6, 6-0 at the ladies' singles final today.

The main draws of the UNIQA GrandPrix 2001 are not yet available.
Both singles finals at Wimbledon were postponed because of rain fall for most of Saturday. The All England Lawn Tennis Club announced yesterday that the ladies' singles final between defending champion Venus Williams and Justine Henin will take place today on the Centre Court following the end of the gentlemen's semi-final between Goran Ivanisevic and Tim Henman which is to resume in its 5th set. The winner of this 2nd semi-final will play in the final against Patrick Rafter, who earlier ousted Andre Agassi in 5 sets on Friday. The gentlemen's singles final is rescheduled to be played on Monday.

Yesterday's 3rd round doubles match was suspended because of darkness at the 3rd set, 2-6, 7-5, 2-4. Finaly Miss Dokic and partner Conchita Martinez lost to 9th seeded pair of Kim Clijsters and Ai Sugiyama, 2-6, 7-5, 3-6 at today's 2nd match on the Court-13.
In the mixed doubles competition, Miss Dokic and partner Jeff Tarango are scheduled to play their 3rd round match on the Court-1 (not Court-13) today against 4th seeded pair of Elena Likhovtseva and Mahesh Bhupathi.

Magazine After winning at the Italian Open, Miss Dokic participated in a photo session, which was held at the Villa de Medici hotel in Rome, along with 2 blonde players, Austrian Barbara Schett and Belgian Kim Clijsters, for a recent issue of British magazine "HELLO!". The WTA Tour announced yesterday that it has selected Saddlebrook Resort in Wesley Chapel, Florida (Pasco County) as the site of its new corporate headquarters. The Tour currently has 2 offices in Stamford, Connecticut and St. Petersburg, Florida, which will both relocate to the new facility in 2002. Miss Dokic is currently residing and training at the resort along with Jennifer Capriati, Martina Hingis, Elena Dementieva, Ashley Harkleroad and Ai Sugiyama of Japan.

The second week of Wimbledon 2001 has started, however, Miss Dokic was not able to reach the quarter-finals. In the 4th round of ladies' singles, she unfortunately lost to 3rd seed Lindsay Davenport, 5-7, 4-6 at today's 1st match on the Centre Court. Lindsay Davenport, who returned from a three-month injury 2 weeks ago, will next meet 7th seed teenager Kim Clijsters, who ousted 17th seed Meghann Shaughnessy, 7-6 (2), 7-6 (5) at the 1st match on the Court-13 today.
Doubles partner Conchita Martinez, seeded 19th in the singles, defeated Lina Krasnoroutskaya (RUS), 6-3, 6-4 at today's 2nd match on the Court-3 to meet 8th seed Justine Henin (BEL) in the quarter-finals. Other players who progressed to the quarter-finals are Jennifer Capriati (USA), Nathalie Tauziat (FRA) and Williams sisters (USA).
The 3rd round opponent team for Miss Dokic and partner Conchita Martinez is 9th seeded pair of Kim Clijsters and Ai Sugiyama, who defeated French pair of Sandrine Testud and Virginie Razzano, 6-3, 7-6 (4) at today's 3rd match on the Court-13.
In the mixed doubles action, Miss Dokic and partner Jeff Tarango progressed to the 3rd round with opponent team's withdrawal. They will next play 4th seeded pair of Elena Likhovtseva (RUS) and Mahesh Bhupathi (IND).
In the men's singles, No.1 seed Pete Sampras, who was 7 times Champion (1993-1995, 1997-2000), has lost to 15th seed teenager Roger Federer of Switzerland, 6-7 (7), 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (2), 5-7 at the 4th round match on the Centre Court today.

In the mixed doubles event, Miss Dokic and partner Jeff Tarango progressed to the 2nd round, fighting back after losing the 1st set to defeat Chanda Rubin and Jeff Coetzee, 3-6 6-4 6-1, at the 4th match on the Court-3 yesterday. They will next play veteran pair of Els Callens (BEL) and Chris Haggard (RSA) tomorrow at the 4th match on the same court.
Miss Dokic is also scheduled to play tomorrow against tough opponent Lindsay Davenport at the opening match for the 2nd week of Wimbledon 2001 on the Centre Court. The winner will meet either 7th seed Kim Clijsters (BEL) or 17th seed Meghann Shaughnessy (USA), who are set to play at the 1st match on the Court-13 tomorrow, in the quarter-finals of ladies' singles.
The 3rd round opponent team for Miss Dokic and partner Conchita Martinez will be the winner of French pair of Sandrine Testud and Virginie Razzano vs. 9th seeded pair of Kim Clijsters and Ai Sugiyama. This 2nd round doubles match is scheduled to play at tomorrow's 3rd match on the Court-13.
