Friday, 31 August, 2001 - U.S. Open
Miss Dokic and partner Nadia Petrova won over qualifiers, Dawn Buth and Anousjka Van Exel, 6-4, 7-6 (8) in the 1st round of women's doubles yesterday. They will next meet 10th seeded Slovenian pair of Tina Krizan and Katarina Srebotnik in the 2nd round. Meanwhile, in the mixed doubles, Miss Dokic and partner Mahesh Bhupathi suffered 1st round loss to Cara and Wayne Black in straight sets, 4-6, 4-6 on the same court later yesterday.
In the women's singles competition, 3rd round matches will be played today. Miss Dokic is scheduled to play 20th seed Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario in the 2nd match at the Louis Armstrong Stadium. 1st match between 7th seed Monica Seles and Greek teenager Eleni Daniilidou is due to start at 11:00 a.m. (local time). Top seed Martina Hingis will play Iva Majoli in today's opening match at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Thursday, 30 August, 2001 - U.S. Open
Miss Dokic cruised through to the 3rd round of singles by defeating Lilia Osterloh yesterday. She won in a straight-sets, 6-3, 6-3 and will next meet 20th seed Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario, who defeated Japan's hope Ai Sugiyama, 6-3, 6-2 yesterday at the Louis Armstrong Stadium (not on the Grandstand Court).

Miss Dokic is scheduled to play in the 2nd round of singles against Lilia Osterloh at the 3rd match on the Grandstand Court today following 2 men's singles matches. 1st match is due to start at 11:00 a.m. (local time). 20th seed Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario and Japanese Ai Sugiyama will play each other at the 4th match on the same court.
The U.S. Open 2001 official website announced the mixed doubles draw. Miss Dokic will team up with doubles specialist Mahesh Bhupathi of India for the first time. They have been seeded No.6 among the 32 teams. However, they will face a tough task against unseeded pair of Cara and Wayne Black from Zimbabwe in the 1st round. In September 1999, Mahesh Bhupathi and Japanese Ai Sugiyama won the mixed doubles title of the U.S. Open. It is Sugiyama's first Grand Slam title. He has won his first Grand Slam title at the Roland Garros 1997 with another Japanese player, Rika Hiraki.

Tuesday, 28 August, 2001 - U.S. Open
Miss Dokic managed to get through her rain-delayed tight match and scored an opening round win over Adriana Serra-Zanetti, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 on Manday. She will next meet Lilia Osterloh, who ousted qualifier Marie-Gaianeh Mikaelian in straight sets, 6-4 6-3.

According to the U.S. Open official website, top half players in the women's singles draw are scheduled to play their opening matches today. Miss Dokic, seeded 14th in the singles, will play at the 3rd match on the Court-11. 1st match on the same court is due to start at 11:00 a.m. (local time). Lilia Osterloh and qualifier Marie-Gaianeh Mikaelian will play each other at the 1st match on the Court-4, which is due to start late in the afternoon at 4:00 p.m. (local time).
Miss Dokic has ranked up to No.13 in the singles and No.14 in the doubles today. Both are her highest-ever rankings in the WTA Tour.

Sunday, 26 August, 2001 (2) - U.S. Open
The final Grand Slam tournament of 2001 begins Monday in New York.
Miss Dokic is to play Adriana Serra-Zanetti of Italy in the 1st round before meeting either qualifier Marie-Gaianeh Mikaelian from Switzerland or Lilia Osterloh of the United States in the next round.

According to the ESPN.com website, Miss Dokic and partner Nadia Petrova lost to the 2nd seeded pair of Cara Black and Elena Likhovtseva in a three-sets, 0-6, 6-3, 2-6 at the doubles final in New Haven yesteday.
Both teams are drawn to meet each other in the quarter-finals at the U.S. Open 2001 now starting tomorrow.
-- As she said in a post-match interview, Miss Dokic had a good week at the final warm-up tournament before the U.S. Open.
In the singles competition, Venus Williams defended her title again, defeating Top seeded Lindsay Davenport in straight sets, 7-6 (6), 6-4 at the yesterday's final.
According to the U.S. Open 2001 official website, the opening round opponents for Miss Dokic and partner Nadia Petrova are Dawn Buth (USA) and Anousjka Van Exel (NED).

According to the Pilot Pen Tennis 2001 official website, Miss Dokic and partner Nadia Petrova reached the doubles final with a 6-3 7-6 (1) victory over Silvia Farina Elia and Miriam Oremans yesterday. They will now face the 2nd seeded pair of Cara Black (ZIM) and Elena Likhovtseva (RUS) at today's final.
Miss Dokic has met this team 4 times on clay court with now injured partner Conchita Martinez.

  May, 2001 German Open in Berlin SF (L) 5-7, 2-6.

Miss Dokic suffered 3rd time loss to Jennifer Capriati yesterday in a rematch of the Acura Classic 3rd round. 2nd seed Jennifer Capriati won 6-4 6-3 to advance to play the winner of the rain-postponed match between 3rd seed Venus Williams and 5th seed Justine Henin in today's semi-final. Miss Dokic reportedly said in her post-match interview: "Our games are very similar. I think she's physically a little bit stronger, and mentally also."

In the doubles competition, Thursday's rain-suspended quarter-final match between Silvia Farina Elia and Miriam Oremans vs. Iva Majoli and Henrieta Nagyova was rescheduled for today's 1st match on the Grandstand Court. Miss Dokic and partner Nadia Petrova are scheduled to play against the winner at the 3rd match on the Stadium Court later today.
The U.S. Open 2001 official website announced the doubles main draws yesterday. Miss Dokic seems to team up again with Nadia Petrova. They are drawn to play qualifiers in the 1st round and will probably meet 10th seeded Slovenian pair of Tina Krizan and Katarina Srebotnik in the next round.

Thursday, 23 August, 2001 - Pilot Pen Tennis, U.S. Open
According to the Pilot Pen Tennis 2001 official website, Miss Dokic cruised through to the quarter-finals in the singles with a 6-3 6-0 win over Lisa Raymond yesterday. She is scheduled to play at today's opening match on the Stadium Court against 2nd seed Jennifer Capriati, who defeated Anke Huber yesterday, 0-6 6-3 6-2. This match is due to start at 1:00 p.m. (local time).
In the doubles competition, she also advanced to the semi-finals with partner Nadia Petrova by defeating Wynne Prakusya and Barbara Rittner, 6-3 7-5 later yesterday.

Miss Dokic was named the 14th seed in the expanded 32-seed field and will play her opening round match against Adriana Serra-Zanetti of Italy in the top quarter of the draw. She was also drawn to meet either a qualifier or Lilia Osterloh of the United States in the 2nd round. She is in the same quarter of the draw as Top seed Martina Hingis, 7th seed Monica Seles, 12th seed Meghann Shaughnessy, 20th seed Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario, 24th seed Paola Suarez, 26th seed Tamarine Tanasugarn, 29th seed Amy Frazier and unseeded Ai Sugiyama from Japan.
The doubles draws are not available. The CBS SportsLine.com reported yesterday that Conchita Martinez of Spain withdrew from the U.S. Open with an Achilles' tendon injury. She has regularly teamed up with Miss Dokic since Hamburg this year. They reached the final at Roland Garros and the 3rd round at Wimbledon.

After a day off, Miss Dokic was scheduled for singles and doubles action today. According to the Pilot Pen Tennis 2001 official website, she will play in the 2nd round of singles against Lisa Raymond at the 2nd match on the Stadium Court. Today's opening match between 2nd seed Jennifer Capriati and Anke Huber begins at 1:00 p.m. (local time).
In the doubles quarter-finals, Miss Dokic and partner Nadia Petrova will meet Wynne Prakusya and Barbara Rittner at the 4th match on the Grandstand Court.

According to the WTA Tour official website, Miss Dokic moved into the 2nd round of the Pilot Pen Tennis 2001 when she upset 8th seed Elena Dementieva yesterday, fighting back after dropping the 1st set, 4-6, 7-5, 6-4. She will next meet Lisa Raymond of the United States for a quarter-finals place where she will probably face 2nd seed Jennifer Capriati. She seems to have a rest today.

Main draw play will begin on 27th August at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Flushing, New York. Qualifying tournament will run from 21st to 25th August. 16 players from each of the 128-player men's and women's fields will advance to the final Grand Slam event of the year.

According to the Pilot Pen Tennis 2001 official website, Miss Dokic and partner Nadia Petrova upset 4th seeded pair of Maria Jose Martinez and Anabel Medina Garrigues yeaterday in straight sets 6-1, 6-4. They will next meet Wynne Prakusya (INA) and Barbara Rittner (GER) in the quarter-finals.
In the singles competition, she is set to play 8th seed Elena Dementieva at the 1st match of the evening session on the Stadium Court today. Play is due to begin at 7:00 p.m. (local time).
Miss Dokic has ranked up to No.14 in the singles today. This is her highest-ever ranking in the WTA Tour.

According to the Pilot Pen Tennis 2001 official website, Miss Dokic is scheduled to play in the doubles 1st round with partner Nadia Petrova at the 3rd match on the Stadium Court today. The opening match is due to be started at 1:00 p.m. (local time). Their opponent team is 4th seeded Spanish pair of Maria Jose Martinez and Anabel Medina Garrigues. Nadia Petrova was not included in the draw for the singles competition. They have teamed up at Amelia Island last year. Conchita Martinez seems to withdraw also from this event because of her right foot injury.

Miss Dokic will participate next week in the Pilot Pen Tennis 2001, Tier2 pre-U.S.Open tournament, which will be held from 19th to 25th August at the Connecticut Tennis Center at Yale in New Haven, Connecticut, USA.
The official website announced the singles main draw today. She will meet 8th seed Elena Dementieva in the opening round to gain revenge for her 1st round defeat at this event last year. 2nd round opponent will be either Lisa Raymond or a qualifier. She was also drawn to face 2nd seed Jennifer Capriati in the quarter-finals. No.1 seeded player is Lindsay Davenport. Defending Champion Venus Williams (2000, 1999) was seeded 3rd. Top 4 seeds received first-round byes as its a 28 field. The qualifying round has begun yesterday.

According to the Rogers AT&T Cup 2001 official website, Miss Dokic is scheduled to play at the 2nd match on the Centre Court today against 5th seed Monica Seles, who ousted qualifier Marissa Irvin, 6-3, 6-2 in the 2nd round yesterday after receiving a first-round bye. Although her 3rd round match was due to start at 1:00 p.m. (local time), play has been delayed because of rain. The winner will face 2nd seed Justine Henin, who has defeated Amy Frazier, 6-3, 6-2 at the rain-interrupted opening match on the Centre Court today.

According to the Rogers AT&T Cup 2001 official website, Miss Dokic survived a tough 3 set battle against her former doubles partner Nadia Petrova, fighting her way back from a set down, 6-7 (5), 7-5, 6-1. Following the opening ceremonies, they played at the 1st match of the evening session on the Centre Court yesterday.

According to the Rogers AT&T Cup 2001 official website, Miss Dokic is scheduled to meet Nadia Petrova at the 4th match on the Centre Court today. Gala Leon Garcia and Magui Serna will play at the 3rd match on the Court-2.
The official website announced today the doubles main draw, in which Miss Dokic was not included. She seemed to be going to play in the doubles competition with Conchita Martinez, her regular partner since Hamburg. However, Conchita Martinez withdrew from this event because of an inflamed Achilles tendon in her right foot after they have been seeded 4th and given a first-round bye.
Miss Dokic has ranked up to No.15 in the singles and No.17 in the doubles today. Both are her highest-ever rankings in the WTA Tour. -- She will very likely be in the top 16 in the upcoming U.S. Open seeding.

The Tennis Australia official website announced today that the Australian Open 2002 would be the first Grand Slam to feature wheelchair tennis event in tournament action. The Wheelchair Tennis Classic will take place during the last 3 days of the main event and will involve 16 of the world's top male and female players, who will take part with each player competing in both singles and doubles.

The Rogers AT&T Cup 2001 official website announced the singles main draw today.
Miss Dokic was seeded 10th and drawn to play Russian teenager Nadia Petrova in the opening round. Her 2nd round opponent will be either Gala Leon Garcia or Magui Serna. Both players are left-handers from Spain. She is in the same quarter of the draw as 2nd seed Justine Henin, 5th seed Monica Seles, 16th seed Chanda Rubin and Ai Sugiyama of Japan. Top seeded player is Jennifer Capriati. Defending Champion Martina Hingis (2000, 1999) has withdrawn due to a recurring stress reaction to her left foot.

Miss Dokic will participate next week in the Rogers AT&T Cup 2001, Tier1 hard-court tournament, which will be held from 13th to 19th August at the National Tennis Centre at York University in Downsview (suburbs of Toronto), Ontario, Canada. According to the official website, the official draw is taking place in the Garden of Champions today at 2:00 p.m. (local time) and the main draw sheets will be made available on Sunday. The qualifying round has begun today. The USAToday.com reported yesterday that Martina Hingis and Lindsay Davenport withdrew from this event because of injuries.

Miss Dokic had another bad day at Manhattan Beach. According to the estyle.com Classic official website, she was defeated by 5th seed Nathalie Tauziat in a seesaw match, 0-6, 6-0, 2-6 in the 3rd round of singles yesterday. Top 7 seeds and 12th seed Amy Frazier will play in the quarter-finals today. In the quarter-finals of doubles, Miss Dokic and new partner Anne-Gaelle Sidot lost a close match to Nicole Arendt and Caroline Vis, 7-5, 3-6, 6-7 (6).

Thursday, 09 August, 2001 - estyle.com Classic, Brasil Open
According to the estyle.com Classic official website, Miss Dokic and partner Anne-Gaelle Sidot cruised through to the quarter-finals after defeating Slovenian pair of Tina Krizan and Katarina Srebotnik in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4 yesterday. They will next face a tough team of Nicole Arendt and Caroline Vis at the 4th match on the Court-5 today.
Miss Dokic is also scheduled for singles today. She will play 5th seed Nathalie Tauziat at today's 2nd match on the Center Court before meeting either Alicia Molik of Australia or 3rd seed Kim Clijsters of Belgium in the quarter-finals.
She seems to be going to participate in the Brazil Open in Sao Paulo after playing at the U.S. Open in New York and before playing at the Toyota Princess Cup in Tokyo next month, but I am not sure. The Brazil Open is a new tier2 event in South America and will be organized by her management company, Octagon.

According to the estyle.com Classic official website, Miss Dokic is through to the 3rd round of the singles with a 6-2 6-1 win over Marlene Weingartner yesterday after receiving a 1st-round bye. Her next round opponent is the winner of 5th seed Nathalie Tauziat vs. Tamarine Tanasugarn match, which will be played at 2nd in today's day session on the Center Court. She reportedly said in her post-match interview: "I played solid, didn't make too many errors. I played my game, everything was working pretty much... I'm happy to be playing on hardcourts, getting ready for the U.S. Open."
The players list for the Toyota Princess Cup 2001 is available here. This tier2 event will be held from 17th through 23rd September at the Ariake Tennis Forest Park in Tokyo, Japan. Venus Williams seemed to withdraw in order to avoid a meeting with younger sister and 2000's "Princess" Serena Williams. Roland Garros finalist Kim Clijsters is a late addition to the list instead of Venus Williams. Miss Dokic reached the quarter-finals in the singles and the semi-finals in the doubles with Corina Morariu in the last autumn.

The estyle.com Classic official website announced the doubles main draw today. Miss Dokic will pair up with Anne-Gaelle Sidot of France (not with Patricia Tarabini) for the first time. Anne-Gaelle Sidot has been ranked 15th in the WTA Doubles Ranking. This is her highest-ever ranking. They are set to play a 1st round doubles match against Slovenian pair of Tina Krizan and Katarina Srebotnik, and will probably meet 4th seeded pair of Kim Clijsters and Ai Sugiyama in the quarter-finals. Patricia Tarabini seems to team up with Katie Schlukebir of the United States.

Miss Dokic will participate next week in the estyle.com Classic 2001, Tier2 hard-court tournament, which will be held from 5th through 12th August at the Manhattan Country Club in Manhattan Beach (western suburbs of Los Angeles), California, USA.
The official website announced the singles main draw today. She has been seeded 11th and given a first-round bye in the singles. Her 2nd round opponent will be the winner of a 1st round match between Marlene Weingartner of Germany and Elena Bovina of Russia. She is in the same quarter of the draw as 3rd seed Kim Clijsters, 5th seed Nathalie Tauziat, 16th seed Chanda Rubin and Japanese No.1 player Ai Sugiyama. Top seeded player is Martina Hingis. Defending champion Serena Williams has been seeded 4th.
The doubles main draw will be announced on Sunday.

According to the Acura Classic 2001 official website, Miss Dokic lost to Jennifer Capriati, 4-6, 2-6 in the 3rd round of singles yesterday. Jennifer Capriati, ranked No.2 in the world, will face 7th seed Monica Seles in the opening quarter-final match on the Stadium Court today.
At the night session on the Stadium Court yesterday, Miss Dokic and partner Patricia Tarabini lost to 4th seeded pair of Kim Clijsters and Ai Sugiyama, 3-6, 1-6 in the quarter-finals.

Thursday, 02 August, 2001 - Acura Classic
Miss Dokic played tough matches both in singles and doubles on Wednesday. According to the Acura Classic 2001 official website, she was through to the 3rd round of singles with a 7-6 (1) 7-5 win over Jana Kandarr at the opening match on the Court-9 yesterday and set up a meeting with 3rd seed Jennifer Capriati at the 4th match on the Stadium Court today. -- Miss Dokic has made strong performance to win 6 times of 7 tie-breaker sets this year.

According to the Acura Classic 2001 official website, Miss Dokic will play her 1st match at La Costa against Jana Kandarr at 10 a.m. (local time) on the Court-9 today after receiving a 1st-round bye. She seems to be also scheduled to play in the doubles 1st round today with partner Patricia Tarabini against Tina Krizan and Nicole Pratt at the 3rd match on the same court.
Australia's Nicole Pratt upset Anna Kournikova, 6-7(1), 6-1, 6-3 in the 2nd round of singles yesterday. This was the first match for 9th seed Russian starlet since she lost in the quarter-finals of the Open Gaz de France in February. Anna Kournikova had been sidelined with a stress fracture in her left foot for 6 months.
