Thursday, 28 February, 2002 - Fed Cup 2002
The ITF announced on Wednesday the 8 venues for the Fed Cup World Group 1st round ties, which will be played from 27th to 28th April with a 16 nation World Group format. Australia is scheduled to meet defending champion Belgium on the indoor red-clay court of the Flanders Expo in Belgium.

Monday, 25 February, 2002 - WTA Rankings
The WTA Tour official website released new ranking tables today. Wimbledon and US Open champion Venus Williams became the 10th No.1 in the history of the WTA singles rankings, replacing compatriot Jennifer Capriati. She is the 4th different No.1 in the past 4 months alongside Martina Hingis, Lindsay Davenport and Jennifer Capriati. Miss Dokic is still holding her 8th spot in the singles ranking and career high 10th in the doubles.

Sunday, 24 February, 2002 - State Farm Women's Tennis Classic
The State Farm Women's Tennis Classic 2002 official website has announced the singles main draw. Miss Dokic seems to withdraw from next week's event in Scottsdale along with also injured Kim Clijsters. She is scheduled to participate in the Tier1 Pacific Life Open, which starts on 6th March in Indian Wells, before playing in her home Florida next month.

Wednesday, 20 February, 2002 - State Farm Women's Tennis Classic
The State Farm Women's Tennis Classic 2002 official website announced yesterday the confirmed players list. Miss Dokic seems to have signed up to make her debut in next week's Tier2 hard-court tournament, which will be held from 25th February to 3rd March at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Scottsdale, Arizona, USA. Other top players include Jennifer Capriati (USA, #1), Martina Hingis (SUI, #4), Kim Clijsters (BEL, #5), Serena Williams (USA, #9), Meghann Shaughnessy (USA, #12), Silvia Farina Elia (ITA, #13), Lisa Raymond (USA, #21) and Barbara Schett (AUT, #23). - However I am not sure her leg injury has already healed over.

Tuesday, 19 February, 2002 - SanexWTA.com
The Sanex WTA Tour will relaunch its new public website on Wednesday. The official website announced yesterday a multi-year agreement with Chicago-based Ignite Sports for website and extranet development as well as sponsorship services for its official website "sanexwta.com". According to the press release, the official website will utilize Ignite's SportsEditor publishing system that was developed specifically to meet the demands of sports organizations, and provides the Sanex WTA Tour with the tools necessary to easily manage their interactive needs. In addition to the new public site, areas of the site requiring credentials will be launched shortly so that players and the media can access critical tour information.

Monday, 18 February, 2002 - WTA Rankings
The WTA Tour official website released new ranking tables today. Miss Dokic moved 2 spots down to 8th in the WTA singles rankings behind Monica Seles and Justine Henin. Monica Seles won her first title of the season on Sunday at the Qatar Total FinaElf Open in Doha. Justine Henin reached the final of the Proximus Diamond Games in Antwerp. She lost to top seed Venus Williams, 3-6, 7-5, 3-6 in a rematch of their Gold Coast final last month.

Saturday, 16 February, 2002 - Kroger St. Jude
Yugoslav news website "Sportska Centrala" reported today that Miss Dokic has already left Antwerp for rehabilitation in Florida and has skipped the Kroger St. Jude, men's (ATP) and women's (WTA) combined event, which will be held from 18th to 24th February at the Racquet Club of Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee, USA. The women's Tier3 competition was formerly known as the IGA Tennis Classic in Oklahoma City. The Kroger St. Jude 2002 official website announced today the singles main draw, in which her name was not included. The article also reported that her appearance at the State Farm Women's Tennis Classic, which will start on 25th February in Scottsdale, hangs in doubt.

Thursday, 14 February, 2002 - Proximus Diamond Games
Miss Dokic suffered a shock retirement from the Proximus Diamond Games 2002 in Antwerp, falling to Patty Schnyder, 6-4, 4-6, 1-1 in the 2nd round today. According to the match reports to the web board of the WTAworld.com, she appeared in the 2nd match on Center Court with both her legs bandaged. It seemed easy for her in the 1st set. But Patty Schnyder fought her way back, winning 5 games in a row at the start of the 2nd set. At 40-40 at the 1st game in the final set, Miss Dokic called a trainer to receive treatment for her leg. She was unable to continue due to pain and was finally forced to retire at 15-15 at the 3rd game.
I hope that she will have enough rest toward big events in USA in March...

Tuesday, 12 February, 2002 - Proximus Diamond Games
The main draw of Proximus Diamond Games 2002 started yesterday in Antwerp. Miss Dokic, suffering from a right leg injury, is scheduled to play in the 2nd round of singles against Patty Schnyder, who got through her opening match with a 6-3, 7-6 (5) win over local wild-card Elke Clijsters yesterday. The official website has confirmed her participation.

Monday, 11 February, 2002 - Proximus Diamond Games, WTA Rankings

After receiving a runner-up's honour in Paris on Sunday, Miss Dokic seems to be still seeking to take part in this week's tournament, the Proximus Diamond Games 2002, which started in Antwerp today. However, she has already decided not to participate in the doubles competition in which she would team up with new partner Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia as top seeded pair, according to the WTA Tour official website.
New ranking tables were released today. In spite of unfortunate withdrawal from Sunday's final, her performances in Paris have moved up her position to No.6 in the world rankings. It is her highest-ever singles ranking in the WTA Tour. She is still holding her 10th position in the doubles ranking.

Because of injuries, Jelena Dokic and Elena Dementieva won't be able to enter the single and double finals they were respectively supposed to play today. Aware of the spectators' disappointment, the tournament organizers have scheduled an exhibition double match, featuring Venus Williams/Mansour Bahrami vs. Amelie Mauresmo/Yannick Noah.

According to the CNNSI.com website, Miss Dokic seems to have strained her right thigh during Saturday's semi-final against Monica Seles. A WTA tour statement was quoted as saying that she had an MRI examination Sunday morning for her injury, which was described as a "right abductor strain." The article also reported that the injury is to be reevaluated to determine if she would play at the Proximus Diamond Games in Antwerp this week.
She appeared on Centre Court on Saturday evening to play in the doubles semi-final with her leg bandaged after winning a tough three-sets match in the singles semi-final, BBC Sport News reported today.
Top seeded Venus Williams won the title by default.

Miss Dokic recorded her first ever victory over 5th seed Monica Seles, winning 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, to reach her first final in 2002 at her debut tournament in Paris today.

She will now face world No.2 and top seed Venus Williams of the United States, who survived the other tough semi-final match against 3rd seeded France's defending champion Amelie Mauresmo, 4-6, 7-6 (3), 7-5 later today.
The singles title match is due to start at 14:15 (local time) on Centre Court tomorrow.

Miss Dokic and partner Magdalena Maleeva have also progressed to the semi-finals in the doubles at the Open Gaz de France, defeating Samantha Reeves and Marlene Weingartner, 7-6 (4), 6-2 later yesterday. For Sunday's final, they will play against Nathalie Dechy and Meilen Tu at the 3rd match on Centre Court today. Miss Dokic is also scheduled to play in the singles semi-finals against 5th seed Monica Seles at today's opening match on Centre Court, which starts at 14:30 (local time).
Le Proximus Diamond Games official website announced that the draw for the singles main draw took place on Friday. Miss Dokic was seeded 4th in the bottom half of the draw. Top 4 seeds in a 28 field will receive byes into the 2nd round. She will play her 2nd round match against either a local wild-card Elke Clijsters, Kim Clijsters' younger sister, or Patty Schnyder of Switzerland. She was drawn to meet 7th seed Anne Kremer of Luxembourg again in the quarter-finals and probably will face 2nd seed Justine Henin of Belgium or 6th seed Magdalena Maleeva of Bulgaria, current doubles partner, in the semi-finals. Top seeded player is wild-card entrant Venus Williams of the United States. Belgian No.1 player Kim Clijsters has been forced to withdraw with a stress fracture in her right arm. According to the Sanex WTA Tour official website, the winner of the tournament will receive a solid gold tennis racquet, encrusted with no less than 1650 diamonds weighing over 4kg to the approximate value of one million EURO. The first player to win the tournament 3 times during a 5 year span gets to keep the unique trophy. The Tier2 indoor event will be held from 11th to 17th February at the Sportpaleis in Antwerp, Belgium.

Miss Dokic has progressed to the semi-finals of the Open Gaz de France, fighting back after losing the 1st set to defeat Elena Dementieva, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 at the opening match on Centre Court today.

Miss Dokic will next meet Elena Dementieva of Russia in the quarter-finals tomorrow. She leads 3-2 in her professional career against the 9th seed and won the past three. The last meeting between the two was in the final of Moscow event last October when Miss Dokic won her 3rd title of the season.

Miss Dokic made her debut in the Open Gaz de France today with a 6-1 6-4 victory over French pair of Emilie Loit and Virginie Razzano at the 3rd match on Court-1 in the doubles 1st round. She and partner Magdalena Maleeva will next meet Samantha Reeves of the United States and Marlene Weingartner of Germany in the quarter-finals on Friday. In the singles, Miss Dokic will play her 2nd round match tomorrow against Cristina Torrens-Valero, who defeated Patty Schnyder in 3 sets, 1-6, 7-5, 6-3 last night.

According to the Sanex WTA Tour official website, local 6th seed Sandrine Testud withdrew from Open Gaz de France 2002 due to a neck inflammation. Elena Dementieva of Russia, seeded 9th now, moved into Testud's spot, and Meilen Tu of the United States moved into the main draw as the lucky loser. Patty Schnyder and Cristina Torrens Valero will play each other at the 2nd match of the evening session on Centre Court today.

Monday, 04 February, 2002 - Open Gaz de France
The singles main draw of Open Gaz de France was announced today. Miss Dokic was seeded 4th in the bottom half of the draw. Top 4 seeds in a 28 field will receive byes into the 2nd round. She will play her 2nd round match against either Patty Schnyder of Switzerland or Cristina Torrens Valero of Spain on Wednesday or Thursday. She was drawn to meet 6th seed Sandrine Testud of France in the quarter-finals and probably will face 2nd seed Justine Henin of Belgium or 5th seed Monica Seles of the United States, runner-up of the Tokyo event, in the semi-finals. Top seeded player is Venus Williams of the United States. Main draw starts on Tuesday.
The doubles main draw is also available now. Miss Dokic will team up with Magdalena Maleeva of Bulgaria. The pair was seeded 4th and was drawn to play against local pair of Emilie Loit and Virginie Razzano in the 1st round.

Sunday, 03 February, 2002 - Toray Pan Pacific Open, Open Gaz de France
Miss Dokic and partner Iroda Tulyaganova lost to the top seeded pair of Lisa Raymond and Rennae Stubbs in the semi-finals of the Toray Pan Pacific Open on Saturday evening. After easily winning the 1st set, 6-1, our team were nearly winning at 5-4 in the 2nd set and at the same score in the final set. But the top seeded team finally managed to fight back to win, 1-6, 7-5, 7-5. Although Miss Dokic seemed to be a little bit rusty, the match was very exciting.

In the singles competition, top seed Martina Hingis won her 4th title of the event with a victory over 3rd seed Monica Seles, 7-6 (6), 4-6, 6-3 at today's final. In the doubles final, Lisa Raymond and Rennae Stubbs overpowered 4th seeded pair of Els Callens and Roberta Vinci, 6-1, 6-1. - Photos
When we met her on Saturday morning, Miss Dokic confirmed to participate this week in the Open Gaz de France 2002, Tier2 indoor greenset tournament, which will be held from 5th to 10th February at the Coubertin Stadium in Paris, France. According to the official website, the draw of the single table will take place tomorrow at 10:30 at the Coubertin Stadium.
