According to the Federazione Italiana Tennis official website, Miss Dokic was defeated by the 6th seed Eva Birnerova, 3-6, 1-6 in the first round of the 2005 Internazionali Citta di Fano Wednesday evening. It was her first official match since 10th May, when she also made a first-round exit from the Tier4 Prague Open, losing to Zuzana Ondraskova of Czech Republic, 4-6, 1-6.

The Federazione Italiana Tennis official website announced the singles main draw of the 2005 Internazionali Citta di Fano on 28th June. Miss Dokic is in the bottom half of the draw as a wildcard entrant and will play her opening match with the 6th seed Eva Birnerova tomorrow.

There is highly-speculated rumor that Miss Dokic requested a wildcard for the main draw of the 2005 Internazionali Citta di Fano. The drawsheet has not been released yet.
She will take part in another clay-court tournament in Italy next week, the Federazione Italiana Tennis official website announced on 21st June. She has reportedly been given a wildcard for the International Country Club 2005 - Banca Regionale Europea, a $50,000 ITF Women's Circuit event, at the Cuneo Country Club in Cuneo, northern Italy. The qualifying event will be held from 2nd to 4th July and the main draw will start on 5th July. The last year's singles champion was Flavia Pennetta of Italy.

The Federazione Italiana Tennis official website released the singles qualifying draw for the 2005 Internazionali Citta di Fano, a $75,000 ITF Women's Circuit event, on Saturday. Miss Dokic's name was not on the draw sheet.
Wimbledon's second week begins tomorrow. The top 32 seeds in the ladies' singles main draw and their status on middle Sunday are as follows.

According to the ITF official website, Miss Dokic seems to participate in a ITF Women's Circuit next week. Her name is on the qualifying entry list of the Internazionali Citta di Fano, a $75,000 clay-court tournament. The qualifying matches will be played from 26th to 28th June, and then the main draws will be held from 28th June to 3rd July at Circolo Tennis Fano in Fano, a resort town on the Adriatic coast of Italy. The top player on the acceptance list (updated on 22nd June) is Italy's 66th-ranked Maria Elena Camerin. Last year's singles champion was Ana Ivanovic of Serbia-Montenegro.

No.7 seed Kim Clijsters won her 3rd singles title of the year with a 7-5 6-0 victory over the 18-year-old qualifier Vera Douchevina in Saturday's final of the 2005 Hastings Direct International Championships at Devonshire Park in Eastbourne. The 54th-ranked Russian teenager has upset the top seed Amelie Mauresmo en route to the maiden final in her professional career. While, No.8 seed Klara Koukalova claimed her first career Tour title on Saturday, recovering from a set down to defeat the 18-year-old compatriot Lucie Safarova, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 in an all-Czech final at the 2005 Ordina Open in 's-Hertogenbosch.
The WTA Tour official website released the new ranking lists after the final warm-up tournaments for Wimbledon, which begins on Monday with the main draw singles action of the top-half.

Top seed and defending champion Maria Sharapova won her 3rd title of the season on Sunday, defeating No.3 seed Jelena Jankovic, 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 in the final of the 2005 DFS Classic in Birmingham. It was her 10th career singles title on the WTA Tour. Serbia-Montenegro's No.1 Jelena Jankovic reached her 2nd final of the season and 3rd in her Tour career without dropping a set.

To our disappointment, it seems that Miss Dokic did not receive a wildcard for this year's Championships. The official site of the Wimbledon Championships revised the wildcard lists. Her name has been erased from the wildcard list for the qualifying competition at Roehampton.

The official site of the Wimbledon Championships also announced the wildcard selection on Tuesday. Miss Dokic has been given one of 8 wildcards into the qualifying singles draw along with Katerina (Kateryna) Bondarenko of Ukraine. The draw sheets for qualifying will be released by Sunday, 12th June.

To our surprise, Miss Dokic will likely participate in the Championships. The Lawn Tennis Association official website "LTA Tennis Nation" announced the wildcards for Wimbledon today. According to the article, she received a wildcard for the ladies singles along with Cara Black of Zimbabwe and the British women - Elena Baltacha, Amanda Janes, Anne Keothavong and Katie O'Brien. This year's Championships will be held from 20th June to 3rd July at the All England Lawn Tennis Club. Qualifying will get under way on 13th June at the Bank of England Sports Club at Roehampton.

The 10th-seeded 2003 champion Justine Henin-Hardenne won her second Roland Garros title and fourth career Grand Slam title on Saturday, defeating veteran countrywoman and the 21st-seeded 2000 champion Mary Pierce, 6-1, 6-1 in the singles final of the 2005 French Open. It was the fourth title of the season - Charleston, Warsaw, Berlin and Paris - for the former World No.1.
