Chapter 2: How to install Chapter 3: How to use Chapter 4: Copyright notice Chapter 5: Verifying Chapter 6: Acknowledgement Chapter 7: Changelog ======================================================================== 1. What is MD5SUM? MD5SUM is a small program that calculates MD5 checksum on the EPOC ER5 device (such as Psion 5MX, revo, 7, netBook.) This can be used for verifying the file contents. As the checksum value changes much even if a few place is changed in the file, it is usually used to verify correctness of the file. ======================================================================== 2. How to install You can install this APP by specifying md5sum-v0.01.sis from PsiWin or MacConnect. You can also start installing it by copying md5sum-v0.01.sis onto the EPOC32 machine and double tapping it. md5sum-v0.01.sis contains MD5 OPX. So you do not need to install MD5 OPX independently. ======================================================================== 3. How to use (1) Tap md5sum from the Extras bar. (2) At first, a dialog ask you the file name to calculate MD5 checksum. You should specify one and press [OK]. (3) If it will take much time, some progress is displayed. (4) As the result, the checksum is displayed in a dialog. (5) If you want to use the result in other application, you can Ctrl+C to copy it to the clipboard here. (6) Press [Quit] to goto (2) for next file. When all files are finished, Press [Cancel] in step (2) to terminate md5sum. The calculated checksum is displayed also in the console, in addition to the dialog. ======================================================================== 4. Copyright notice 4.1. For application binaries You can use, copy, redistribute or sell this application binaries (md5sum.app, md5sum.aif). If you want to rewrite the binary directly, you should see 4.1. 4.3. For MD5 OPX MD5 OPX, included in the SIS file, has its own copyright notice. Please see its document (md5opx-en.txt). 4.4. Verifying I verified the result of md5sum by comparing the results of those: - md5sum.opo : MD5OPX 0.0.1 - md5 command in the FreeBSD 2.2.8-RELEASE - md5sum.exe in the Cygwin-b20 (using --binary option) ======================================================================== 6. Acknowledgement I thank Mr. Noriyuki Mihashi very much who made the icon file for this software. ======================================================================== 7.
